What are My Thoughts Today?

I am reading a book called Make Your Art No Matter What by Beth Pickens and I have really been enjoying it. The author suggests taking one day a week totally off of work that leads to income, including your art. So I tried it on Saturday, and it really was relaxing... I even felt compelled to paint, which I hadn't done since December! I am going to try to incorporate a day off all the way. It's so easy to sneak in work on the weekends when you're a self-employed artist.

Additional Thoughts:

I have felt pretty supported so far whenever I have told friends I have quit drinking. I've definitely been getting follow-up questions, but it doesn't seem like judgement. More like curiosity. I do think the tides are changing in terms of society's view on alcohol. I think people are willing to admit that drinking is bad for them, they just choose to look the other way until it becomes a problem.

It's so true that the more I learn about drinking, the less appealing it becomes. But I do have to have compassion for my friends and family members who haven't learned this stuff yet. Remaining non-judgmental and not obsessing about their drinking are important. For the most part I haven't been talking about my decision to stop drinking around friends unless someone offers me a drink and I say, "No thanks, I quit drinking" and then there are follow-up questions.

My Why: To have freedom from addictions, to create more space in my life, to honor my body / mind / spirit, to feel vibrant and empowered in my daily life, and to make my corner of the world a better, more peaceful, more loving & more beautiful place.

What's One Awesome Thing that Happened Yesterday because I Chose Not to Drink?

I had a performance yesterday and it went really well and I just felt content that I wasn't drinking to celebrate afterwards!
